Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Patient Services Food Services Associate II to lead daily department activities and ensure quality food and nutrition services. Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED or two years of related experience required.
  • 1 to 3 years related nutritional or retail food service experience; supervisory experience desirable.
  • SERV-SAFE Certification or Virginia Health Department equivalent required or obtainable within year one.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules and adjusts staffing as appropriate.
  • Maintains standards of performance, food quality and sanitation.
  • Follows and enforces Food and Nutrition Services policies and procedures.
  • Completes all general food service tasks as assigned.
  • Participates in department activities/meetings and contributes to patient/customer satisfaction initiatives and cost-reduction efforts.
  • Reviews and verifies all documentation daily.
  • Orders and/or monitors food and supplies.
  • Participates in hiring, staff development and feedback.
  • Manages menus and patient food item requests using automated computer systems including EMR.

How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:

Sign on Bonus Eligible: $2,000 per applicable guidelines (external hires only)

Leads the daily activities of the department to assure quality food and nutrition services. Assumes responsibilities assigned by the manager. Facilitates effective open two-way communication and resolution of work site operational issues that support facility/service line goals and objectives.

  • Schedules and adjusts staffing as appropriate.
  • Maintains standards of performance, food quality and sanitation.
  • Follows and ensures compliance to Food and Nutrition Services policies and procedures.
  • Completes all general food service tasks as assigned.
  • Participates in department activities/meetings, which may include orientation of co-workers, patient/customer satisfaction initiatives, cost reduction initiatives and inspection readiness.
  • Reviews and verifies all documentation daily.
  • Orders and/or monitors food and supplies.
  • Participates in hiring process, staff development and feedback.
  • Administers and documents menus and requests for patient food items utilizing automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
What We Require:
  • Education: High School diploma/GED or two years of related experience.
  • Experience: 1 to 3 years related nutritional or retail food service experience. Supervisory experience highly desirable.
  • Licensure, certification, and/or registration: SERV-Safe Certification or equivalent certification from the Virginia Health Department is required; or ability to obtain certification within year one in this position.
  • Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills required. Keyboarding or computer skills for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records preferred. This position is deemed emergency personnel during emergency weather conditions. Must provide own transportation and travel to other Carilion work sites. May be required to work at other Carilion facilities to meet staffing needs.
Compensation Range:

$17.39 - $24.35 Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
