Job summary

T.H.E. Health and Wellness Centers in South Los Angeles is seeking a Patient Services Representative to greet patients, collect paperwork, and input data into the EMR.

You will screen patients before exams and explain enrollment options, including HWLA, Medi-Cal, and sliding fee programs. The role requires a high school diploma, 6 months hospital financial screening or 1 year front office clerical, strong communication, and bilingual Spanish.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months hospital financial screening experience or 1 year front office clerical.
• Ability to work with diverse populations.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience using an EMR system is desirable.
• Spanish language proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients professionally and friendly.
• Provide and explain paperwork for appointments.
• Input patient information into computer/EMR.
• Screen patients prior to examination and verify data.
• Explain enrollment options (e.g., HWLA, Medi-Cal, sliding fee).
• Assist with enrollment and follow-up on pending/denied cases.
• Provide billing/payment information and collect payments when needed.
• Coordinate with billing and other departments as needed.
• Prepare reports and maintain program records.
• Support front desk, telephone inquiries, and appointment desk.
