Reports directly to the designated immediate manager within the assigned medical practice or outpatient department. Responsible for coordinating and scheduling patient appointments while ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience. Interviews patients to obtain accurate demographic and financial information and performs patient registration and related registration functions. Obtains required patient signatures and documentation for billing and insurance purposes. Processes laboratory orders and other diagnostic testing requests through the computer system at the direction of physicians. Completes end-of-day disposition procedures and maintains accurate statistical information related to patient activity. Greets patients upon arrival, announces patient arrivals to appropriate clinical staff, and responds to incoming telephone calls for the department or practice. Serves as a professional liaison among patients, nurses, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team. Provides exceptional customer service, maintains a welcoming and professional environment, and assists patients with questions and departmental needs.
Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups.
High School Diploma or GED.
One (1) year experience with third party payors. Preferred Experience: Up to four (4) years clerical/customer service experience, ideally in a health care related industry. Computer experience for imputing data and reviewing patient demographic material.
