  • Communicate all pertinent information to families, physicians, team members, and other patient care areas.
  • Prepare patient materials and documentation according to established procedures.
  • Collect co-payments and validate patient insurance and demographics.
  • Update payment and patient information; reconcile One Connect cash drawer daily.
  • Perform validation of the Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire (MSPQ).
  • Ensure coordination of benefits and assignment of Hospital Account Record (HAR).
  • Follow standard operating procedures for institution and center.
  • Protect the security and confidentiality of patient information at all times.

Job description

The Patient Services Coordinator at MD Anderson Cancer Center coordinates and schedules patient appointments and impacts patient care services by ensuring timely and accurate scheduling of provider appointments, diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments. This role is essential to maintaining smooth patient flow and supporting the multidisciplinary care team.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma and three years of customer service experience in a healthcare setting. The candidate must be available to work 40 hours per week, a combination of two 12-hour and two 8-hour shifts, Monday-Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays. This department is hiring for Evening/Night shift: (7:00PM - 7:00AM, and 11:00PM - 7:00AM)

The Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) is an outpatient unit that provides observation services to patients that do not meet the admission criteria. A designated 16-bed medical unit where adult patients in need of additional monitoring, diagnostic evaluation and/or treatment may be placed while a clinical decision is being made to admit the patient for hospitalization or discharge the patient for further care. Available for patient care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.

Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience Required: Three years of relevant work experience (may substitute additional education for required experience on a one-to-one basis).

Experience Preferred: Three years of customer service experience in a healthcare setting.

Other Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
