Job summary

Hartford HealthCare Rehabilitation Network is seeking a Patient Service Representative at our Bristol outpatient site to provide professional customer service and manage patient scheduling, pre-registration, registration, and insurance verification.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, collecting co-pays, scheduling appointments, and coordinating referrals, while supporting efficient operations and a positive patient experience across rehab services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate/bachelor preferred.
• 1-2 years in medical or healthcare office settings.
• Knowledge of healthcare terminology, insurance basics, and billing.

Responsibilities

• Greets and registers arriving patients, verifies insurance.
• Answers calls, evaluates priority, directs to the right staff.
• Provides information to new patients prior to visit and updates demographics.
• Collects co-pays and explains billing policies to patients.
• Schedules new patient appointments and follows up on referrals.
• Schedules follow-up appointments and completes pre-cert exams.
• Resolves patient/clinician issues with team escalation as needed.
• Maintains reception area and supports other front desk staff.
• Collaborates with system-wide teams to improve processes and patient experience.
