Job Description Summary:

To provide efficient, effective, quality customer service and practice support through a variety of general office duties including scheduling, coding, registration and billing. Maximize revenues by collecting payment at time of service and entering accurate and up-to-date billing information (address, insurance coverage, etc.) into the patient accounting system. Assist clinical staff in maintaining accurate medical records.

We’re Looking For:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One to two years related customer service experience
• Experience handling difficult callers/customers/patients.

What You’ll Do:

Schedule:

• Monday-Friday: Start times can vary between 7:30am-8:00pm,
• Saturday- Rotates (7:30am-11:30am, 8:00 am-12:00pm)
• Required - One evening shift 11:30-8:00 (per week)

As a Patient Service Representative (PSR), you’ll play a vital role in the care team – supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day.

As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will:

• Patient Services: Provides efficient, high-quality service to patients who arrive for appointments or who telephone or visit in person to request appointments or information on tests and procedures, bills and charges, referrals, and other matters.
• Billing Services: Ensures entry at time of service of billing information on the patient and payer and accurate follow-up on missing information.
• Medical Record Services: Upholds standards of the practice and of the medical group for accurate and timely medical records.

Advocate Children's Hospital - Park Ridge - 1675 Dempster St

Advocate Medical Group Yacktman Pediatrics, affiliated with Lutheran General Hospital, is one of the largest pediatric primary care clinics. We are a residency clinic with 60 residents rotating between inpatient and outpatient settings, along with 10 physicians and 2 APNs. Our clinic provides routine physicals, newborn and well-childcare, sick visits, chronic disease management, and more.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to function in a high volume, multiple-task environment, and in a crowded or closely shared workspace.
• Exposure to ill patients.
• Ability to work under stressful conditions with demanding customers.
• Must lift 35 pounds without help. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
