For a limited time, MaineHealth is offering up to a $3,000 sign-on bonus for all eligible Patient Service Representatives!

Eligibility: Candidates hired (offer accepted) into a full or part-time Patient Service Representative position are eligible. Bonus amount is prorated for part-time hires; per diem hires are ineligible. Current MaineHealth employees are ineligible; former employees are ineligible until more than 6 months of separation.

Summary

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) - Orthopedics will greet patients, answer telephones, schedule appointments, and perform other general office duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  1. Greet all patients in a polite, prompt, and helpful manner.
  2. Schedule, reschedule, confirm, and cancel patient appointments.
  3. Update all patient demographic and insurance information at check-in and provide necessary forms for completion.
  4. Answer phones pleasantly and assist callers directly when possible.
  5. Screen calls, document detailed messages, and escalate to the appropriate individual in a timely manner.
  6. Collect co-pays/patient due balances, review encounter forms for completeness and accuracy, obtain patient signatures, and schedule follow-up appointments when indicated.
  7. Help patients activate and navigate the patient portal.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: Driver's license may be required.
  3. Experience: Experience in a medical office and customer service preferred.
  4. Additional Skills/Requirements: None required.
  5. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Computer skills, effective cash collection skills.
