Scripps Health is seeking a Patient Service Representative for the OB/GYN department at the Encinitas center. The role is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, located at 332 Santa Fe Drive, Encinitas.

You will be the first point of contact, registering patients, handling payments, and coordinating appointments to ensure a smooth patient experience. Ideal candidates bring strong customer service skills, proficiency with computer systems, and the ability to manage refunds, insurance

Responsibilities

• Interact with patients and providers to gather information for accurate registration; assign Medical Record Number, schedule appointments, collect payments, and manage check-out.
• Respond to billing and payment inquiries from patients.
• Manage check-in/check-out processes, verify ID, confirm demographics and insurance, and prepare end-of-day reporting.
• Schedule and confirm appointments in person or by phone; enter insurance details as needed.
• Initiate and validate referrals/authorizations.
• Provide proactive customer service by listening, solving issues, and involving leadership when needed.

Join a caring team supporting Scripps Coast Medical Center Encinitas as a Patient Service Representative in the OB/GYN department. You'll be on the front line for creating a positive Scripps Health experience for our patients while being responsible for duties such as the following:

• Interacting with patients and providers to gather information for accurate registration. Assigning of Medical Record Number, appointment scheduling, point of service payment collection, document collection and check-out functions.
• Responding to customer billing and payment inquires.
• Effectively managing the check in or check out process, which includes identification verification; confirming demographic and insurance information; ensuring appropriate forms are provided, signed, and witnessed at the time of the patient visit and accurately preparing end of day reporting or payment reconciliation.
• Scheduling and confirming appointments in person or over the phone and entering appropriate insurance.
• Initiating and validating referrals/authorizations.
• Having a proactive approach to customer service by listening to the patient, taking ownership of solutions and being able to identify the need to involve leadership to resolve concerns.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Must be able to demonstrate proficiency of computer applications, excellent mathematical skills and ability to handle monies.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills; innovative with ability to identify and solve problems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year of experience in a customer service or healthcare/medical office environment preferred.
• Able to adapt, prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, commercial and government health insurance and billing guidelines, ACA requirements, understanding of DRG's, Medical ICD9/ICD10 codes and CPT/HCPC Codes and Modifiers.
