Job summary

Neighborhood Health Center of WNY, Inc. is seeking a Patient Service Representative to greet patients, verify insurance information, schedule and adjust appointments, and collect co-payments. The role emphasizes kindness, reliability, and teamwork to ensure a smooth patient flow across multiple sites, primarily at 300 Niagara St.

in Buffalo. You will work Monday through Friday between 7:45 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., with travel to other Neighborhood sites as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Proficient reading, writing and speaking English
• Spanish language skills preferred
• Able to learn new software and computer systems
• Strong customer service and attention to detail

Job description

Patient service representatives greet patients upon arrival, check-in patients, verify insurance information, schedule and change appointments, and collect co-payments. As a patient service representative, you'll be the first person patients see when they arrive at Neighborhood, and you'll help set the tone for a positive patient visit.

About the Role:

As a patient service representative, kindness and fairness are key as you use your customer service skills in patient interactions. You'll collaborate with other team members to help ensure a smooth flow for the day.

Responsibilities include:

• Welcomes patients
• Verifies patient information and makes corrects in the computer system
• Confirms appointment times, locations, and providers during check-in
• Communicates delays to the front desk lead
• Assists in ensuring appointments are confirmed
• Assists in open and closing procedures
• Prints daily appointment schedules and front desk reports
• Verifies insurance through epaces, heathenet, healthplex
• Inputs insurance information including active/expired dates
• Sends appropriate patient messages
• Assists patients in filling out forms
• Collects co-payments including sliding scale nominal fee
• Adheres to cash handling policy

You will be primarily based at our Mattina location, 300 Niagara St., and will also travel to other Neighborhood sites as needed.

Education and Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Able to read, write and speak the English language.
• A second language of Spanish is preferred
• Able to learn new software and computer systems

Must be available to work any shift Monday-Friday between 7:45 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Starting rate $18.50 per hour.
