Job summary

Neighborhood Health Center of WNY, Inc. seeks aPatient Service Representative at our Southtowns location. You will greet patients, check in, verify insurance, schedule appointments, and collect co-payments.

You may travel to other Neighborhood sites as needed, supporting a courteous patient experience. Requirements include a high school diploma, ability to read/write English (Spanish preferred), and strong customer service with attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Able to learn new software and computer systems.
• Customer service skills with attention to detail.
• Basic medical office terminology knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and check in; verify insurance information.
• Schedule and change appointments; collect co-payments.
• Print daily schedules and front desk reports; assist in opening/closing.
• Verify patient information in the computer system and confirm appointments.
• Communicate delays and ensure appointments are confirmed; assist with forms.

Patient service representatives greet patients upon arrival, check-in patients, verify insurance information, schedule and change appointments, and collect co-payments.

As a patient service representative, you'll be the first person patients see when they arrive at Neighborhood, and you'll help set the tone for a positive patient visit.

About the Role

As a patient service representative, kindness and fairness are key as you use your customer service skills in patient interactions. You'll collaborate with other team members to help ensure a smooth flow for the day. Responsibilities include:

Verifies patient information and makes corrects in the computer system

Confirms appointment times, locations, and providers during check-in

Communicates delays to the front desk lead

Assists in ensuring appointments are confirmed

Assists in open and closing procedures

Prints daily appointment schedules and front desk reports

Verifies insurance through epaces, heathenet, healthplex

Inputs insurance information including active/expired dates

Sends appropriate patient messages

Assists patients in filling out forms

Collects co-payments including sliding scale nominal fee

Adheres to cash handling policy

You will be primarily based at our Southtowns location, 151 Elmview, and will also travel to other Neighborhood sites as needed.

Education and Skills

High school diploma or equivalent

Able to read, write and speak the English language. A second language of Spanish is preferred
