Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Part-Time Patient Service Representative for the Crystal Lake Immediate Care Center. The role supports patient check-in/out, registration, and payments while delivering exemplary customer service. The position requires 0–2 years in a customer service role, with preferred healthcare exposure.

Shift is 24 hours per week, two 12-hour shifts, 7:45am–8:15pm, including weekends/holidays. Floating to other clinics may occur.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 0–2 years in a customer service position.
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and guests upon arrival and verifies identity.
• Assists with check-in/out functions and collects necessary information.
• Updates patient demographics and insurance information.
• Registers patients as needed and processes payments.
• Posts payments and handles end-of-day cash drawer closing.
• Keeps waiting area clean and comfortable.
• Notifies patients of delays or changes in appointment status.
• Schedules appointments when needed.
• May float to other ICCs/departments as required.

**This is a Part-Time position at 24 hours per week located at the Crystal Lake Immediate Care Center. This would be 2, 12hr shifts from 7:45am-8:15pm with weekends and holiday coverage requirement. Floating to other clinics may be required.**

The Patient Service Representative supports the service area by checking patients in and out of appointments. This role will consistently demonstrate exemplary customer service when assisting patients and guests.

Responsibilities:

• Communicates with patients and guests including greeting them upon arrival, confirming identity and providing necessary information related to their visit.
• Completes check-in/out functions as directed.
• Confirms and updates patient identification and demographic/insurance information.
• Completes patient registration as needed.
• Collects co-payments, past due balances and point of service payments.
• Posts payments, process billing information and perform “end of day” cash drawer closing.
• Keeps waiting area clean and comfortable.
• Informs patients of any delays or changes in appointment status.
• Schedules appointments as necessary.
• For PSRs in the Immediate Care Clinics (ICC), float to other ICCs/departments.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Required

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Zero (0) to two (2) years’ experience in a customer service position.

Preferred

• Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
