Job summary

Esse Health is seeking a Patient Service Representative for our South County Internal Medicine office. This full-time position supports outpatient clinical operations with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with no nights, weekends, or holidays.

Daily duties include patient check-in/out, appointment scheduling, co-payment collection, insurance verification, and patient demographics updates. The role requires solid communication skills, a friendly image, and healthcare exposure.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ years experience with the public, preferably in healthcare.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of health insurance plans (HMOs, PPOs, etc.).
• PC/Windows proficiency; familiarity with medical coding.

Responsibilities

• Check-in and check-out patients.
• Schedule patient appointments.
• Collect co-payments.
• Verify insurance information.
• Register patients and update demographics.
• Answer phone calls and direct inquiries.
• Balance monies at day end.
• Enter physician-related charges into the computer.
• Bill hospital/nursing home charges when required.

We are searching for a Patient Service Representative for our South County Internal Medicine office located at 5034 Griffin Road!

Opportunity:

• - Full-time opening
• - Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
• - No nights, weekends, or holidays

Day-to-Day:

• - Perform patient check-in/check-out
• - Schedule patient appointments
• - Collect co-payments
• - Verify insurance

• - Balance monies at day end
• - May be required to enter physician-related charges into the computer
• - May be required to bill hospital/nursing home charges

Who we are seeking ( preferred ) :

• - The Patient Service Representative is highly visible in their interactions with patients and must therefore project a positive office image at all times including smiling, greeting patients with enthusiasm, and maintaining an upbeat, positive attitude in all interactions with patients and coworkers.
• - Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent.
• - 1 or more years of experience working with the public, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• - Knowledge of medical terminology,
• - Knowledge of the different types of health insurance plans; i.e. HMOs, PPOs, etc.
• - PC/Windows proficiency.
• - Medical coding familiarity.
• - Willingness to assign high priority to patient comfort and satisfaction.
• - Ability to communicate effectively and to work compatibly with physicians, coworkers, and employees in other departments.
