Job summary

Patient First is hiring for a front desk/clerical role at a Tennessee center. You will assist patients at the kiosk, escort those needing emergency care to the treatment area, and handle billing inquiries with care and accuracy.

The position emphasizes excellent customer service, compassion, and accuracy in registering patients, processing payments, and maintaining records across the EMR system.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Assisting patients using the kiosk prior to registration.
• Escort patients in need of emergency assistance directly to the treatment area to be registered and evaluated.
• Respectfully handle Physician and Nurse requests in a timely manner.
• Communicate information about Patient First’s billing policies, including insurable and non‑insurable charges, as needed.
• Accurately register patients in an expedient manner while providing excellent customer service, compassion, and kindness.
• Verify all patient demographic, health, pharmacy, and insurance information.
• Thoroughly answer billing and insurance questions and provide itemized billing statements as requested.
• Refer billing questions to the appropriate parties as needed.
• Collect money and issue receipts for a patient’s visit, diagnostic studies, and supplies as prompted by the electronic medical record system.
• Discharge the patient and process incurred charges.
• Complete all cash‑management duties, including counting and accounting for money collected at the end of the shift.
• Receive, send, and distribute correspondence as directed.
• File and scan medical documents and office forms as directed.
• Complete assigned checklists and Policy Manager tasks within the assigned shift.
• Answer all incoming calls and distribute messages in a timely manner.
• Assist with other assignments as directed.
• Demonstrate an efficient understanding of the electronic medical record system.
• Receive, move, and stock ordered supplies.
• Clean the front office work area and other maintenance assignments as directed.
• Verify daily reports are run at the end of the day.
• Attend staff meetings as directed.
• Be available to assist as needed (breaks and mealtimes may be interrupted at any time to provide necessary patient care or maintain center operations).
• Operate, use, and maintain medical and office equipment as trained.
• Participate in maintenance assignments when necessary and as directed.
• Provide positive, warm, and friendly service in all interactions.
• Complete other duties as directed.

Minimum Education and Professional Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Basic typing skills.
• Minimum one year of clerical experience preferred.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for up to 7 hours at a time.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Excellent visual, verbal, written, and typed communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Willing to work at any center due to a staffing issue, center emergency, or a reduction of work.

Salary & Benefits

Salary Range: $18.75 - $21.25, depending on experience.
