Job summary

Minnesota Eye Consultants is seeking a full-time Patient Service Representative for the Blaine clinic. You will greet patients, verify demographics, collect payments, and support front-desk operations across multiple MEC locations.

The role requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with health records. Evening and weekend shifts may occur as described in the schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years of related customer service experience preferred in healthcare.
• Healthcare experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors in a warm, friendly manner and assist with check-in.
• Verify and update patient demographics, insurance, and referring provider information.
• Assist with forms such as medical history and patient agreements.
• Collect payments for self-pay, co-pays, and outstanding balances.
• Reconcile cash and post cash batches daily.
• Coordinate patient transportation as needed.
• Prepare charts and packets for clinic and laser visits.
• Scan and file patient paperwork into the EHR system.
• Maintain lobby safety and cleanliness and manage IDs/badges.

MN Eye Consultants is currently hiring for a full-time Patient Service Representative for our Blaine clinic.

SUMMARY

The Patient Service Representative is responsible for welcoming patients and visitors to MEC in a warm and friendly manner and helping to prepare for their visit. This includes problem resolution and assisting with paperwork including demographics, insurance information, and collecting co-payments and/or past due balances in a timely manner. Starting pay is $20.00/hour.

LOCATION & SCHEDULE

This position is based in our Blaine clinic but will be required to work shifts at other MEC clinics as needed. This position will work an 8 hour shift Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:30am – 5pm and every other Saturday morning from 7:30am-1:30pm (would then get a day off during the week).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Welcome patients and visitors in a warm, friendly, prompt manner as the first point of contact in the overall patient experience and assist with navigational needs and appointment scheduling.
• Verify, obtain, enter and update patient demographics, insurance, referring physician, primary care provider, and other required fields as assigned.
• Assist patients with completion of pertinent forms including but not limited to medical history, patient agreement, workers compensation.
• Collect patient payments for self-pay appointments, co-payments, outstanding balances, and fees for contact lens related items.
• Daily cash reconciliation and posting of cash batch.
• Coordinate and assist patients with transportation needs.
• Prepare patient charts in advance for both clinic and laser visits including printing fee tickets for add on appointments.
• Prepare surgery and dry eye patient packets and laser post-op kits.
• Distribute daily visit paperwork.
• Scan patient paperwork into the electronic health record.
• Facilitate lobby safety and cleanliness as well as cleaning lanyards and badges.
• Comply with established standards and protocols of MEC goals and objectives including compliance with HIPAA and PHI standards and protocols.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma/GED
• 1-2 years related customer service experience
• Health care experience preferred
