The position emphasizes excellent customer service, accurate data collection, and seamless communication with patients, families, and clinicians. It is a full-time, on-site role with a 8:00 am–4:30 pm or 8:30 am–5:00 pm shift, located at 3400 Main

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• 6-18 months experience preferred (PSR I or II) or 3 years preferred (PSR III).
• Strong customer service skills to interface with patients, families and the multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and verify demographics, referrals, and pre-authorizations.
• Verify insurance coverage using automated systems.
• Request, accept, and document co-payments or outstanding balances.
• Schedule new and follow-up appointments per practice guidelines.

Baystate Health is seeking a Patient Service Representative (PSR) to join our Northern Edge Adult and Pediatrics team in Springfield, Massachusetts. Our practice offices are part of a multi-specialty medical group with nearly 1,000 physicians and advanced practitioners serving patients across more than 60 locations in Western Massachusetts.

The Patient Service Representative role offers the opportunity to work in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary care team to perform essential administrative tasks necessary to support patient care. Key responsibilities include patient reception, registration, demographic and insurance verification. This role requires strong customer service skills to interface with patients, families and the multi-disciplinary team.

• Managing the Patient Experience: Greet patients, gather/verify demographics, check for necessary referrals/pre-authorizations.


• Insurance Verification: Request proof of insurance, verify coverage using automated systems.


• Payments: Request, accept, and document co-payments or outstanding account balances.


• Appointments & Schedules: Schedule new/follow-up appointments following practice guidelines


• Check-out: Review patient information at checkout, schedule future visits, provide referrals.


• Communication: Answer/route calls, manage/resolve administrative inbox messages, print orders, letters, or short-form medical records in compliance with HIPAA, prepare documents for scanning and route incoming mail and faxes.
