General Summary of Position

Job Summary:
MedStar Health is seeking a full-time Patient Service Coordinator to join our team in the Foot, Ankle, Shoulder, and Elbow department at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, MD.

As a Patient Service Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to patients by greeting them warmly, managing check-in and check-out processes, gathering demographic information, verifying insurance, collecting copayments, and scheduling appointments.

Primary Duties:

  1. Serve as the initial contact person at the medical practice or hospital department, greeting patients courteously and professionally.
  2. Manage patient intake, screen for emergent conditions, register patients, verify insurance, and explain patient financial responsibilities.
  3. Perform check-in and check-out procedures, input charges, and verify demographic and insurance information.
  4. Coordinate efficient patient flow through the practice or hospital department.
  5. Support organizational initiatives related to new technology, clinical programs, and enhancing the patient experience.

Qualifications:

  1. 6 months to 1 year of experience providing high-quality customer service, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  2. Working knowledge of IDX/GE Centricity business systems is preferred.
  3. High School Diploma or GED required.
  4. CPR Certification required.

Additional Information:

This position offers a hiring range of $18.33 - $31.61 per hour.
