Job summary

UofL Health in Shelbyville, KY is seeking a Medical Scheduler to assist staff and physicians by scheduling patients for follow-up visits and necessary tests and procedures. The Scheduler serves as a healthcare team member with responsibilities commensurate with training, including direct patient interaction across all ages.

You will schedule follow-ups, obtain pre-certifications, arrange tests, and communicate clear procedural instructions to patients, via phone and written follow-up letters,

Qualifications

• Schedules follow up/return visits to our office for patients.
• Obtains appropriate pre-certification and pre-authorizations, as needed.
• Schedules medical tests and procedures for patients.
• Discusses patient instructions for procedures with patient so patient has clear understanding of what is expected.
• Calls patients to schedule procedures and give instructions over phone with follow-up letter with instructions.
• Uses Epic, Centricity Business, online paging systems and retrieves information from other hospital systems.

Responsibilities

• Schedules follow up/return visits to patients and coordinates with clinicians.
• Obtains pre-certifications and pre-authorizations as needed.
• Schedules tests and procedures and ensures patient readiness.
• Explains procedural instructions clearly to patients and caregivers.
• Contacts patients to confirm appointments and provide written instructions.
• Accesses information from hospital systems using Epic and Centricity Business.
