Responsibilities

  • Review referrals for completeness per policy and procedure set by Management.
  • Contact physician offices to obtain additional information on patient, if necessary.
  • Contact patients to obtain demographic and insurance information.
  • Verify insurance coverage via eligibility computer system to determine available benefits.
  • Contact carriers to obtain necessary insurance benefits information.
  • Complete initial pre-authorization/pre-admission requirements of insurance carriers.
  • Notify patients if their carrier has not pre-authorized OPD services and explain Burke policies.
  • Schedule and reschedule appointments and maintain an accurate daily schedule of therapy patients.
  • Distribute therapy schedules to the appropriate departments.
  • Act as a liaison between Finance and ancillary departments regarding scheduling.
  • Submit referrals to the OPD Charge Nurse for review.
  • Provide offsite clerical support as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested by Management.
  • Practice Universal Precautions.
  • Communicate with pediatric, adolescent, young adult and geriatric patients and visitors.

Overview

Obtains and verifies information with patients and coordinates daily scheduling of patients.

Responsibilities
  • Reviews the referrals for completeness of information necessary to process referral as per policy and procedure set by Management.
  • Contacts physician offices to obtain additional information on patient, if necessary.
  • Responsible for contacting patients to obtain demographic and insurance information.
  • Responsible for verifying insurance coverage via eligibility computer system to determine available benefits.
  • Responsible for contacting via telephone insurance carriers or electronic eligibility to obtain necessary insurance benefits information.
  • Responsible for INITIAL pre-authorization/pre-admission requirements of insurance carriers prior to the start of care.
  • Responsible for notifying patients if their carrier has not pre-authorized OPD services and advising patient of Burke payment policies.
  • Responsible for scheduling and rescheduling appointments and maintaining an accurate daily schedule of all therapy patients.
  • Responsible for the distribution of the therapy schedules to the appropriate departments.
  • Responsible for and acts as a liaison between the Finance Department and the ancillary departments regarding all therapy scheduling.
  • Responsible for submitting the referral to the OPD Charge Nurse for review.
  • Responsible for offsite clerical support as the need arises.
  • Performs any other duty at the request of Management.
  • Practices Universal Precautions.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate with pediatric, adolescent, young adult and geriatric patients and visitors.
Requirements
  • High School diploma preferred.
