Job summary

WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital is seeking a Scheduling/Pre-Registration Clerk to ensure patients are scheduled for correct procedures at the right time and with the appropriate resources. The role handles pre-registration, documents insurance and authorizations, and delivers top-tier customer service as the patient’s first impression.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Two years medical secretarial/medical clerical experience.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all scheduling and pre-registration functions necessary to maintain efficient and smooth operations of the scheduling function, coordinating the scheduling and ordering of procedures for designated departments based on established guidelines.
• Schedules services as requested by physician offices or patients, gives preparation for exams and screens for pertinent information prior to scheduling exam.
• Pre-registers patients in computer system according to the hospital's registration guidelines.
• Responsible for ascertaining insurance information to comply with managed care regulations or other insurance regulations, performing a revenue cycle review, and referring appropriate patients to Financial Care Consultants.
• Maintains records according to hospital and regulatory requirements.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding patient and employee information.
• Collaborates with physician office staff to maintain effective working relationships and to provide education for new office staff members.
• Assists in the training and orientation of new staff members.
• Maintains department equipment.
• Records and reports equipment malfunctions, including initiating service work orders.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
