Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Scheduling Coordinator to join the Coletta Cancer Center on-site. You will schedule procedures, enter patient information accurately, and support care teams to ensure smooth patient flow.

You will communicate with patients, physicians, and hospital staff to coordinate care, verify CPT codes, and manage scheduling resources, contributing to high-quality patient experiences.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED required.
• Preferred Experience: 2 years healthcare or clinical experience. Medical terminology or broad experience base in medical terminology.
• Other skills & knowledge: Telephone etiquette, customer service, computer skills (skills, knowledge, abilities). Knowledge of business machines required and keyboard.

Responsibilities

• Receives orders and schedules patients for procedures and obtains proper documentation for required authorization.
• Follows site-specific protocols and maintains up-to-date documentation to ensure compliance.
• Utilizes phone, fax, and emails to communicate with patients, physicians, and hospital staff.
• Prepares patients for visit by accompanying patients to treatment room/area, documents vital signs, and other appropriate information in EHR per acceptable nursing practice.
• Creates referrals and checks for correct/matching CPT codes for procedures.
• Inputs physician orders, pertinent data, and retrieves reports from within the Electronic Health Record.
• Communicates and collaborates with internal departments in a timely manner and adheres to acceptable protocols of patient care.
• Responsible for managing scheduling details such as equipment, resources, and supplies.
• Other duties as assigned.
