Job summary

Providence Swedish is seeking a Medical Imaging Scheduler to coordinate outpatient imaging services across CT, MRI, Ultrasound and Radiology, including ED-generated imaging. The role requires understanding patient flow, imaging procedures, lab testing, and patient history requirements to optimize throughput.

Qualifications include an Associate's Degree or healthcare-equivalent, with preferred Medical Terminology certification and 1 year in healthcare.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or equivalent healthcare training required.
• Preferred Medical Terminology Certification or completion of a Medical Terminology course within 180 days of hire.
• One year of experience in a healthcare setting (e.g. physician's office, scheduler).
• Experience obtaining insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations.
• Prior medical imaging experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Schedule outpatient imaging services for CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and Radiology.
• Schedule imaging for care generated through the emergency department.
• Prioritize tasks during high volumes to maintain patient flow and throughput.
• Coordinate with departments to ensure appropriate patient history and testing requirements are met.

The Medical Imaging Scheduler provides a wide range of routine to moderately complex support tasks for medical imaging along with prioritizing multiple tasks during high volumes. These responsibilities include scheduling outpatient imaging services for CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and Radiology. In addition, they schedule all imaging services that are generated through the emergency department. Scheduling requires an understanding of optimal patient flow, imaging procedures and knowledge of laboratory testing and patient history requirements for imaging procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's Degree - or -
  • Equivalent from a two year college or technical school with emphasis in healthcare preferred, or six months to one year related experience and/or training in health care related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Within 6 months (180 days) of hire Medical Terminology Certification or successful completion of a Medical Terminology course
• 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting (i.e. physician's office, scheduler, etc.)
• Experienced in obtaining insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations
• Medical imaging experience
