Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, MA is hiring a Central Scheduler to arrange outpatient diagnostic testing and assist with billing and registration. You will primarily work a day shift with 40 hours per week, and participate in a two-week classroom training in Springfield for nearby colleagues.

Responsibilities include scheduling, interviewing patients for testing documents, operating office systems, and handling phone inquiries to route to the correct staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years clerical experience in a medical field preferred.
• Minimum of 6 months customer service experience required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Position Purpose

Reporting to the Manager Patient Access, the Central Scheduler is responsible for scheduling outpatient diagnostic testing, assisting with the billing process for reimbursement of provided services, and assisting with the outpatient registration process.

What You Will Do

• Schedule and confirm patient diagnostic testing appointments and provide testing requirements and instructions to patients
• Interview patients to obtain and/or complete testing documents, medical case histories, and forms such as intake and insurance forms
• Operate office equipment such as voice mail messaging systems, copiers, fax, and use of computer systems including database entry, word processing, spreadsheets, and other software applications
• Answer telephones and direct calls to appropriate staff

Position Highlights And Benefits

• Mostly Mon-Fri but rotating half day Saturday (differentials apply)

Pay Range

$18-24/hr

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
