Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Safety Attendant to support nurses and ensure patient safety in a high-acuity setting. You will stay at the bedside, monitor patients, and assist with basic care under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include observation, reporting changes, removing hazards, and maintaining patient comfort and safety through adherence to care plans. This role emphasizes vigilance, teamwork, and compassionate patient care in New Jersey.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or GED equivalent.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Assist the registered nurse to maintain a safe patient environment.
• Stays within arm's reach of the patient at all times.
• Notify the nurse if you need to leave the bedside.
• Complete the Close Observation Record or Intensive Observation Record.
• Keep bed rails in the position directed by the nurse.
• Keep bed in the lowest possible position.
• Ensure the call bell is within reach to call for help.
• Remove sharp objects from patient reach as directed.
• Prevent patients from pulling out tubes or drains and explain why.
• Report any unusual behavior or comments to the nurse.
