Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is hiring patient care associates to support nursing staff in delivering safe, compassionate care in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will assist with basic patient needs, observe and report changes, and help maintain a clean, organized environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous hospital experience preferred.
• Basic computer and math skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides verbal hand off to nurse and oncoming personnel.
• Reports all observations to the Registered Nurse.
• Ensures patient safety by providing an organized and safe environment.
• Observe patient's environment for risks and hazards.
• Takes necessary steps to reduce the risk and provides report to the registered nurse.
• Assures patient's privacy and dignity.
• Observe patient's status for changes in behavior such as quiet, eyes closed, cooperative, agitated, loud or noisy, verbally abusive, combative, confused, talking to provider and visitors, walking, pacing, angry, hostile, talking to self, sexually inappropriate.
• Applies appropriate interventions: Observe, redirect, diversional activities, notify RN.
• Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
• Adheres to HMH's Organizational and Managerial competencies and standards of behavior.
• Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 5 lbs. and stands a minimum of 1 hours a day
