Job summary

Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center is seeking a Specialist Patient Safety within the Division of Quality Safety to assess patient safety issues, investigate causes, and lead improvement projects to reduce risk. This role will educate staff in patient safety methodologies and drive standardized processes to improve reliability of care.

The position reports to the Division of Quality Safety and collaborates with clinical teams and hospital leadership to advance patient safety across

Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse by Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners preferred.
  • Certification in Patient Safety preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess for patient safety issues, including investigation and cause analysis; manage improvement projects to advance patient safety.
  • Manage a portfolio of patient safety projects, monitor and evaluate clinical processes for safe delivery of care.
  • Present to hospital leadership and partner with clinical areas to improve patient safety.
  • Educate caregivers and staff in patient safety sciences and methodologies.
  • Drive initiatives using evidence-based standards of care and standardization of processes to improve reliability of systems.
