Job Summary:
The Patient Safety Coordinator is an integral part of the Patient Safety team. This role will provide support in various ways such as providing assistance with daily patient safety event review, communication, triage, etc. This position acts as support and resource on behalf of the department, including event timeline investigation work-ups with patient safety consultants, meeting support, action plan tracking and event follow up.
Position Details:- 0.6 FTE (48 hours per pay period)

- Mobile position: Onsite work will be required as needed.
Job Expectations:
- Daily event review/triage.
- Support daily safety call – act as scribe and communicate with participants regarding their follow up actions; tracking attendance and communicating to leaders. Monitoring progress of issue closure and escalating concerns when appropriate.
- Assist patient safety team with communicating to providers and leadership regarding patient safety events. Partner with the patient safety consultants to ensure standard work processes are followed and appropriate teams are aware of status of patient safety events.
- Assist patient safety department with maintaining appropriate documentation about status of patient safety events following standard workflows.
- Create event timelines, conduct EMR (Epic) chart reviews to collect relevant chart information to assist patient safety team with event investigations.
- Supporting event investigations, structured reviews and Root Cause Analysis
- Data maintenance of event logs on a daily basis.
- Support Director and patient safety team with management of the Patient Safety Committee.
Required
Education
- Associate degree in healthcare, general arts, business, or psychology
Experience
- 1-2 years of experience in an administrative position or other position in a healthcare setting
Preferred
Education
- BA and/or BS: healthcare, general arts, business, or psychology
Experience
- 2-3 years of experience in an acute hospital setting and/or quality or patient safety work
