Job summary

Animas Surgical Hospital in Durango, CO, is seeking a Registration Clerk/Front Desk to handle day-to-day calls and greet patients and families. You will verify insurance, collect cash, and maintain patient charts with proper confidentiality.

The role requires clerical excellence, strong communication, and adherence to HIPAA. It does not include clinical tasks, and the Clinic Manager oversees operations.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and remain poised and professional when interacting with potentially hostile patients and family members.
• Must possess excellent clerical and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Receives patients and visitors and provides assistance in scheduling appointments, patient registration, medical chart maintenance and the coordination of patient referrals.
• Greets patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner and verify patient contact and insurance information on file.
• Registers the patients, while ensuring that all demographic information is current.
• Ensures that required documents are received and documented in the patient’s record, such as physician orders and patient history.
