Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 2 years experience in a hospital/medical setting with emphasis in patient registration and billing/collections.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential patient financial and medical information.

Responsibilities

• Ensure complete and accurate patient demographics and financial data for inpatient and outpatient accounts.
• Inform patients of hospital policy to collect estimated self-pay balances; collect on balances; educate about financial assistance programs when applicable.
• Obtain signatures and insurance cards to complete admission records; generate facesheet and blueplate as required.
• Provide information regarding verification of insurance and required authorizations, including possible rescheduling if not obtained prior to service.
• Perform intake tasks such as phone calls, scheduling forms, faxes, and walk-ins for registration.
• Demonstrate ability to prioritize workload and adapt to change; support team goals and cross-train as needed.
