Job summary

Columbus Regional Health is hiring for a patient access position at the hospital in Columbus, IN. The role emphasizes a compassionate, professional first connection with patients, visitors and vendors at entry points and on phones, with strong customer service skills.

The department supports cross-training across preregistration, admission, appointment check-in, cash collections and scheduling. You will work 36 hours weekly, night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with eligible benefits after 16

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in hospital patient intake or customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional and compassionate first contact with patients, visitors and vendors at hospital entry, department check-in and on phones.
• Support roles including preregistration, admission, appointment check-in, cash collections and scheduling.
• Cross-train across multiple roles within the team for weekly variety.
• Assist with patient experience and detailed attention to service quality.

What you need to know about this position:

• Professional & Compassionate first connection with patients, visitors & vendors at hospital entry, department check-in locations and on phones, utilizing strong customer service skills.
• Strong dedicated team that work closely with focus on details & patient experience in variety of roles including preregistration, admission, appointment check-in, cash collections, & scheduling.
• The department culture allows for dynamic variety each week through cross-training, which allows staff to work in several different roles within the team.
• The base hourly rate for this position is $16.16. Individual compensation is determined for this position through years of directly relevant experience and does include shift differentials and premium pay as applicable. The hourly compensation is only a portion of the total rewards package and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
• In this position, you will be scheduled to work 36 hours a week, 3–12-hour, night shifts, 7:00PM-7:00AM.
• With at least 16 hours per week, this position is benefit eligible.

Physical Demands:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to push or pull patients in wheelchairs. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
