Qualifications

• Post secondary education or training in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in healthcare setting handling patient registration or front desk/admissions.
• 0-2 years in a customer service role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with patients and families, addressing questions with courteous, timely assistance.
• Regulates schedules based on procedure requirements, physician availability, and staffing needs.
• Schedules procedures and pre-registers patients by obtaining accurate demographic information.
• Verifies insurance eligibility using designated applications and secures necessary authorizations.
• Collects and records patient financial responsibility estimates.
• Communicates operative reports daily to appropriate physician offices.
• Compiles and organizes registration documentation to ensure complete patient medical records.
• Collects patient co-pays or deductibles and informs patients of financial obligations.
• Assists patients with insurance requirements and resolves related questions.
• Documents when a patient cannot sign consent forms and notes if a family member or nurse signs.
• Places armband on each patient for identification.
• Answers and returns phone calls with professionalism.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
