Job summary

NCH Healthcare System Inc is seeking a Patient Registrar to collect and enter accurate demographics and insurance information for all patients entering the system via inpatient, outpatient, or the emergency department, ensuring proper coding and documentation for billing and third‑party claims.

The registrar verifies benefits, secures signatures, collects deposits and co‑pays, and may perform related duties such as pre-authorization and payments posting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred.
• Must be able to prioritize and work independently.
• Good customer services and communication skills.
• Basic computer knowledge: ability to operate a PC, create/save/print documents, input data.

Responsibilities

• Completes registration and billing information accurately in the host system for inpatient, outpatient, or ED.
• Prepares ID armband and obtains signatures as needed for registration.
• Proficient in Patient Accounting Registration software and related processes.
• Verifies insurance benefits and authorizations, and collects deposits or co-pays as required.
• Reviews registration data for accuracy and communicates with Financial Counselors as needed.
• Balances daily journals and postings, and maintains appropriate patient account notes.
