Job summary

Community Health Systems is seeking a Registrar to support patient care by accurately capturing demographic and insurance information in person or by phone. You will schedule procedures, obtain authorizations, and maintain complete patient records while delivering exceptional customer service.

This role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and experience with registration processes and basic medical terminology.

Qualifications

• Post secondary education in medical office administration preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting including patient registration, medical office scheduling, or front desk/admissions required.
• 0-2 years of experience in a customer service role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with patients and families to address questions and provide courteous, timely assistance.
• Regulates schedules based on procedure requirements, physician availability, and staffing needs.
• Schedules patient procedures and pre-registers patients with accurate demographic information.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and captures correct health insurance details, securing necessary authorizations.
• Collects and records patient financial responsibility estimates as applicable.
• Communicates operative reports to physician offices daily.
• Compiles and organizes registration documentation for patient medical records.
• Collects patient co-pays or deductibles and informs patients of financial obligations.
• Assists patients with understanding insurance requirements and with resolving related questions.
• Documents consent forms when patients cannot sign and notes nursing sign-offs if needed.
