Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Patient Observation Monitor to support nursing staff in a clinical setting. You will provide constant observation of patients under the direction of a registered nurse and assist with safety, communication, and patient diversion as needed.

The role requires travel to multiple hospital campuses within the assigned region and flexibility with assignments. Candidates should be able to sit/stand for extended periods and meet mandatory education requirements.

Qualifications

• Must be flexible with assignments.
• Ability to travel to multiple hospital campuses.
• Must complete mandatory education and competencies.
• Sitting up to eight hours per day.
• Standing up to 2 hours per day and walking up to 2 hours.
• Routinely use upper extremities; lift up to 10 pounds.

Job description

• Observe patients under the close supervision and direction of the registered nurse in the clinical setting.
• Provide staffing support to Network Campuses as necessary.
• Provide support in the Virtual Patient Observation monitoring role.
• Travel to multiple hospital campuses within the assigned region.
• Report on/off duty to the registered nurse assigned to care for the patient.
• Receive specific observation guidelines from the registered nurse for each patient, shift, and assignment.
• Provide a safe environment for the patient under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Provide constant observation of patients as directed by the registered nurse.
• Continuously observe patients from a secure, centralized location.
• Verbally interact with patients to divert potentially unsafe behaviors or activities using various diversional tactics.
• Maintain contact with the bedside care team and notify or alert staff when there is imminent danger.

Requirements

• Must be flexible with assignments.
• Ability to provide support in the Virtual Patient Observation monitoring role.
• Ability to travel to multiple hospital campuses.
• Must complete mandatory education and competencies required for position.
• Sitting up to eight hours per day.
• Standing for up to 2 hours per day.
• Walking up to 2 hours per day; 15 minutes at a time.
• Routinely use upper extremities; occasionally lift items up to 10 pounds.
• Stoop, bend, and reach above shoulder level regularly.
• Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch.
• Must be able to see as it relates to general, near, far, color and peripheral vision.
