Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Diet Aide to support nutrition services. You will manage dietary changes, assist with room service, verify diet orders, and maintain patient meal files. The role requires strong customer service and basic computer skills with no prior experience needed.

The position involves lifting up to 20 lbs, standing most of the day, and working in a hospital setting with standard PPE as required. High school diploma is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• No prior experience is required.
• Strong customer service and communication skills are essential.
• Good organizational and time management abilities.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office: Excel, Word) or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Receives diet changes throughout the day (orders, admissions, cancellations, transfers, tube feedings, supplements, late tray requests, diet instructions).
• Checks menus for completeness and accuracy; refers problems to the Dietitian.
• Answers room service phone and collects meal selections based on current diet orders.
• Prints tube feedings and nourishment labels; verifies label accuracy.
• Maintains department files and records patient preferences and dietary items in the card file.
• Performs dietary procedures and nutrition services tasks as instructed; knows modified diets, guest tray, isolation procedures, etc.
• Prepares food production reports; prints missed meals and tray counts.
• Inventory and order supplies; communicates needs to supervisor/manager.
