Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an entry-level food service worker to assemble patient and mobile meal trays, deliver meals, and assist with cafeteria and catering activities. The role emphasizes adherence to diet guidelines, sanitation, and patient/customer service in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities include tray assembly, delivery to patient rooms, handling cash in cafeteria, and maintaining food safety standards across nursing units and the emergency department. No prior experience required.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of hospital/food service environment.
• Ability to read and understand written and oral communications.
• Good communication and customer service skills to interact with internal and external customers.
• Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office or similar products. Ability to use e-mail and internet.

Responsibilities

• Assemble patient and mobile meal trays per diet guidelines and productivity standards.
• Deliver patient trays to rooms and transport food carts.
• Assist with cafeteria service, operate cash register, and balance cash daily.
• Perform cleaning duties and wash dishes per sanitation procedures.
• Assist with catering events, setup, and display of daily specials.
• Prepare snacks and meals following recipes and portions.
• Stock and replenish supplies in retail and kitchen areas.
• Deliver and stock in nursing units, doctors' lounges, and ER.
• Monitor food temperatures and ensure safe handling to prevent foodborne illness.
