Job summary

Advocate Health Cleveland - Food and Nutrition department is seeking a full-time Food Service Specialist responsible for patient meals, tray assembly, and timely delivery on assigned units. You will handle menu selections, dietary restrictions, and special requests while coordinating with Nutrition Services and Nursing to meet patient nutrition needs.

The role requires familiarity with modified diets, accurate timing, and strong communication skills to ensure patient satisfaction and physician

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred or currently enrolled in an educational program.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Explain menu selections, diet options, and restrictions to patients/families.
• Assess safety issues for patient age groups during meals.
• Understand modified diets and allowed condiments.
• Offer menu alternatives based on prescribed diet and patient preferences.
• Honor patient birthdays with special meal accommodations within scope of service.
• Process menu selections and diet orders.
• Ensure meals meet temperature controls and service times.
• Deliver trays to floors on time.
