Job summary

University of Southern California's Keck Hospital of USC is seeking a Nutrition Assistant (Union) to provide nutritional care by assisting in menu selection, delivering meals, and updating nourishment data. The role involves direct patient contact, phone order processing, and collaborating with clinical staff for optimal patient nutrition.

Responsibilities include visiting patients, using the Health Touch system, and contributing to safety and quality initiatives while supporting diet office

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent required; GED acceptable.
• 1 year of experience can substitute for education.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both spoken and written.
• Basic computer/laptop experience required.
• Prefers bilingual candidates.
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) within 30 days if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Visits 80% of patients to obtain meal orders; calls if unable to visit.
• Utilizes Health Touch program for meal orders.
• Delivers meals and assists with patient set-up and tray tracking.
• Acts as liaison between Nursing, Dietitians and Food & Nutrition Services.
• Documents and handles patient concerns and allergy information.
• Participates in safety trainings and process improvements.
