Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking staff to provide direct patient meal service, taking orders in person or via the hospitality system, delivering meals, and retrieving trays. The role requires knowledge of special diets and allergies and maintaining nutrition center cleanliness.

Candidates should have a valid FSWP and, ideally, a High School Diploma. Experience with EPIC and VST is a plus, and the position emphasizes customer service and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Valid Food Service Worker Permit (FSWP) required before start or temporary FSWP obtained by first Wednesday of employment, with permanent FSWP within 1 month.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers phone calls following customer service standards.
• Complies with diet restrictions including allergies and fluid limits.
• Uses EPIC and VST for patient information and menu requests.
• Delivers meal trays and retrieves trays within service guidelines.
• Maintains cleanliness of nutrition centers and adheres to sanitation protocols.
• Communicates with nursing and kitchen staff to meet patient needs.
• Follows HAACP guidelines and infection control requirements.
