Qualifications

• Must have minimum of two years of experience in food service/customer service.
• Patient feeding experience with all age groups and diet experience preferred.
• Knowledge of nutrition, diets, recipes, food preparation and service.
• Must read/write and communicate fluently in English.

Responsibilities

• Assemble meal service carts and companion carts to match menus and diet orders.
• Adhere to safe food handling practices while maintaining proper temperatures.
• Program and operate carts to refrigerate, heat and hold temperatures; notify supervisor of malfunctions.
• Transport meal carts to designated patient units within scheduled times.
• Consult with nursing staff about changes to patients that may affect meal service and document written notes.
• Prepare cart items for service and record temperatures at start and end of meals.
• Greet patients, explain menu choices per their diet orders, and refer questions to the dietician when needed.
• Assemble and deliver meal trays; ensure patient satisfaction with menu choices and service.
• Record and monitor sanitation of carts, trays, dishes and utensils; reset cart for next service.
• Conduct patient satisfaction surveys and document comments for the manager.
