Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; culinary experience and minimum 1 year in foodservice.
• Ability to speak, read and write English to communicate tasks to peers or subordinates.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
• Ability to apply common sense to carry out tasks and adapt to changes.
• Food handler and SERV Safe preferred; culinary experience is a plus.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Stand/walk for long periods; lift up to 10 pounds (rarely up to 100 pounds).
• Work environment includes wet/humid conditions and extreme temperatures; exposure to fumes and chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Meal preparation using recipes and portion control.
• Ensure timely delivery of the meal.
• Maintain a clean work environment using infection and sanitation guidelines.
• Practice food safety by maintaining temperatures and handling of food and/or equipment.
• Supervisor in absence of one.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with peers, staff and patients.
