Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a dedicated food service worker to provide preparation, delivery, and service of meals for patients and customers. You will assemble patient trays, check menu accuracy, and ensure quality presentation.

The role requires high school diploma or GED and 6–12 months of relevant experience; candidates with 3+ years of food service may also qualify. Duties include restocking, maintaining sanitation, and following health standards.

Qualifications

• Reading, writing and basic arithmetic required.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Sets up patient food service stations on trayline according to tally sheets or par levels.
• Assembles patient meal trays and snacks, checking accuracy against menu selections.
• Restocks beverages and food products in cafeteria serving area.
• Serves cafeteria customers, portioning food and presenting attractively.
• Preps and cuts foods for patients' meals and cafeteria use.
• Stores and rotates food per guidelines, logs temperatures as required.
• Maintains clean, sanitary work areas and disposes of trash.
• Assists with onboarding new staff and attends required trainings.
