Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a food service worker to assist in setup and serving of food from counters and steam tables across the property. You will clean and sanitize equipment and work stations while following safety standards.

You will read recipes, operate kitchen utensils, assist in hot or cold food preparation, and interact with customers. Training includes allergy and foodborne illness sessions and adherence to company safety policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred or equivalent.
• Prior work experience not required; related work experience preferred.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance and ethics.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to safety standards.
• Participates in quality and service improvement teams and committees as appropriate.
• Reads recipes and operates kitchen utensils to weigh, measure, mix, and prepare foods.
• Assists in hot/cold food preparation and proper food storage.
• Serves and replenishes food at counters and steam tables; clears stations at end of meal periods.
• Interacts with customers and assists with opening containers as requested.
• Attends allergy and foodborne illness training; follows safety policies.
