Job summary

MercyOne Health Ministries is seeking a Patient Logistics Access Specialist to serve as the first contact for transfer and admission requests, capture demographics and referral details, and initiate transfer workflows with accuracy and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Health care experience required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s Degree or equal experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for incoming transfer and admission requests.
• Capture accurate patient demographics, referral details, and operational information to initiate transfer workflows.
• Route calls to the appropriate Patient Logistics Clinician, RN, or operational team while maintaining strong customer service.
• Document call details in electronic health records and transfer management systems with accuracy and regulatory awareness.
• Support EMTALA-sensitive processes by ensuring complete intake documentation and escalating when red flags arise.
• Coordinate non-clinical aspects of transport logistics with EMS agencies and internal stakeholders.
