Position Summary: We are currently hiring a School Health Access Coordinator to work based out of our School Health Centers. The School Health Access Coordinator will ensure that students and families can fully access school-based health services by verifying insurance coverage, supporting enrollment efforts, and serving as a key liaison between the clinic, front desk staff, and families. This role plays a vital part in connecting patients to healthcare coverage, promoting completion of school health consent forms, and ensuring that no student is denied care due to insurance or enrollment barriers.
Minimum Qualifications:- High School Diploma Required
- 2-5 years of related experience with patient financial services/patient admin support
- Strong knowledge of Medicaid, public health insurance programs, and/ or insurance verification processes.
- Experience using Electronic Medical Record systems and insurance verification platforms.
- Bilingual Spanish/English is required.
- Team player, kindness, honesty, and empathy.
- Must have excellent communication skills and ability to provide exceptional experience to patients.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Duties:- Participate in school and community events to promote enrollment and access to care.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for students prior to appointments, including Medicaid, managed care, and commercial insurance plans.
- Provide real-time support to front desk staff regarding insurance verification and assist with related training and workflow improvements.
- Communicate directly with parents and guardians to confirm insurance coverage, request updates, and explain insurance-related requirements.
- Refer uninsured or underinsured families to internal or external enrollment facilitators and assist with connecting them to programs such as Medicaid, Child Health Plus, or the Essential Plan.
- Collaborate with outreach teams and school partners to increase the return and completion of school-based health consent forms.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and support reporting of consent and enrollment data.
- Help identify and address common barriers to access and coverage for students and families.
- Stay up to date on public health insurance options, eligibility guidelines, and school-based health compliance requirements.
- Support culturally responsive and equitable engagement with students and their families across all aspects of the role.
Starting Compensation:Minimum $50,000 annually; Maximum $55,000 annually

Work Environment Type, Location, and Schedule: Applicants must be comfortable working onsite, based out of the Bronx and have availability to commit to a schedule of 40 hours per week, working Monday through Friday 8am-5pm
