Job summary

Community Health Centers of the Rutland Region seeks a Certified Optical Technician to support the optical team and deliver patient-centered care in Rutland, VT. You will assist with eyewear selection, pre-exam testing, and documentation, while maintaining high service standards and accurate records.

The role requires certification or active pursuit of certification, with 1–2 years of optical/healthcare experience and strong customer service skills to ensure patient satisfaction and smooth

Qualifications

• Certified or willing to become certified within designated timeline after hire.
• 1–2 years of experience in optical or healthcare settings.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients in selecting eyewear based on prescription and budget.
• Explain lens options, coatings and frame materials to help decisions.
• Record patient medical history and test results accurately in the system.
• Assist with fitting, adjustments, and proper alignment of eyeglasses.
• Teach patients how to use contact lenses and eyewear care.
• Maintain up-to-date product knowledge and monitor inventory levels.
• Support with check-in/check-out, appointments, and billing processes.
• Provide exceptional customer service and follow up on orders.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and maintain a safe environment.
