Job summary

Yale-New Haven Hospital is seeking a Security Specialist to protect entrances and provide guidance to patients, families and visitors while delivering high quality guest service in a healthcare setting.

You will operate fixed access posts, monitor weapons detection, and respond to emergencies, coordinating with dispatch and protecting hospital operations. This is an entry-level, full-time role based in New Haven, CT.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; completion of entry-level and ongoing training modules.
• Healthcare security experience preferred but not required.
• Must meet CT DPS licensing requirements and hold a valid Connecticut driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a fixed security access post to ensure proper access control and assist guests.
• Open and secure designated doors and entrances.
• Provide directions, assist with wheelchairs and parking for guests and patients.
• Report suspicious persons or activity to Central Communications Officer.
• Respond to emergencies and support Protective Services Officers.
• Observe, monitor, and report unsafe conditions; coordinate with the Service Response Center.
