Job summary

Bon Secours is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join the St. Francis Downtown team.

The CMA will work closely with the primary care physician to deliver patient care, review and update health records, measure vital signs, and prepare treatment rooms for examinations. The role emphasizes accurate charting, excellent patient service, and efficient clerical support within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED.
• Active MA certification from CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA, NCCT; ABR-OE acceptable if not in SC.
• BLS by American Heart Association required at hire for certain locations; preferred before independent patient care.
• One year of medical assistant experience preferred; two years clerical in a physician’s office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and provide excellent customer service.
• Review and update patient charts for upcoming visits; verify diagnostic test results and records.
• Measure vital signs (pulse, respiration, BP, weight, height) and prepare treatment rooms.
• Perform clerical duties: inventory, stock supplies, track referrals, answer phones.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
• Other duties as assigned.
