Job summary

St. Charles Health System in Oregon is seeking a Medical Assistant to manage daily patient flow for assigned physicians.

The role relies on triage skills to collect information enabling staff to assess health needs and anticipate physician requirements. You will escort patients, document medical data, assist with phone requests, perform physician-requested procedures (excluding IV meds), maintain equipment and supplies, and uphold the organization's standards of confidentiality and ethics.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of ICD-10, CM/CPT/HCPCS coding conventions.
• Working knowledge of medical practice management information systems.
• Basic knowledge of physician office documentation standards.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients to exam rooms and prepares for physician assessment.
• Records and maintains patient's medical data in patient's medical chart.
• Assists physician with answering phone requests from patients and/or other medical professionals and institutions.
• Performs a variety of physician-requested ancillary and/or surgical patient procedures. (This excludes the administration of IV medication.)
• Maintains equipment, instruments supply inventory levels.
• Supports the vision, mission, and values of the organization in all respects.
• Supports Lean principles of continuous improvement with energy and enthusiasm, functioning as a champion of change.
• Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.
• Conducts all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, supporting the organization’s corporate integrity efforts by acting in an ethical and appropriate manner, reporting known or suspected violation of applicable rules, and cooperating fully with all organizational investigations and proceedings.

• May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned.
