Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in DeKalb, IL is seeking an Environmental Services Technician (EVS) to maintain cleanliness in patient rooms, offices, and public areas. You will follow strict safety and isolation procedures while supporting daily hospital operations.

The role requires evenings 3:00 PM-11:30 PM with 4–5 shifts per week and alternating weekends. Candidates should be reliable, work well in a team, and uphold our patient-first service standards with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains patient rooms, offices, public areas and treatment rooms daily.
• Follows policies on patient isolation and contact precautions.
• Stocks paper items and supplies as needed.
• Maintains clean and organized carts and equipment.
• Promotes safety with PPE and wet floor signage.
• Notifies supervisor of equipment repairs or safety hazards.
• Communicates issues to supervisor and supports workflow improvements.
• Interacts professionally with hospital personnel while protecting patient confidentiality.
