Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an Environmental Services Technician in DeKalb (Kishwaukee Hospital) for the evenings, 3:00 PM-11:30 PM, with every-other-weekend and rotating holidays. You will clean patient rooms and general areas, stock supplies, and maintain safe, sanitary conditions in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Responsibilities include following isolation procedures, using chemicals safely, reporting hazards, and collaborating with hospital staff to support patient care and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and staff.
• Must be able to use tracking and communication tools used by the department.
• Must be able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains patient rooms, offices, public areas and treatment rooms daily.
• Collects and removes trash, changes bed linens, sanitizes surfaces.
• Stocks paper items and supplies in assigned areas as necessary.
• Maintains cart and equipment in clean, working condition.
• Promotes safety in the workplace and uses PPE and wet floor signs.
• Notifies supervisor of equipment repairs and safety hazards.
• Communicates issues to supervisor and coordinates with centers as needed.
• Exhibits professionalism and ensures patient confidentiality.
